Katy arrived at the Sanctuary in April 2010. We had a phone call from a gentleman explaining that his wife was away on holiday, her horse had died and he was left with an elderly pining donkey, could we help. We collected katy a 36 year old ex beach donkey who had been retired as a companion to the owners horse. Despite her aging years her general condition was good and she happily joined our OAP group. After 24 hours it was as if she had lived here forever. In January 2011 she had a bleed on the brain which the vet treated with antibiotics and steroids, 2 days later she had another bleed and we had to make the decision to have her put to sleep to end her suffering.
